Core Energetics – a body-oriented psychotherapy
in Czech and English

About Core Energetics

Core Energetics is a body-oriented psychotherapy that connects and integrates the body, mind and spirit. It works with our energy, movement, breath, emotions and interpersonal relationships. This therapeutic method draws partly on the ideas of Wilhelm Reich, who studied energy flows and blockages in the human body and emotions and developed a theory of character types. Core Energetics builds directly on Bio-Energetics, a technique developed by two of Reich’s pupils – the groundbreaking American psychiatrists Alexander Lowen and John Pierrakos.

„Connecting with our inner truth is the path to unity of life, pleasure and abundance for all.“ (John Pierrakos, founder of Core Energetics)

Who are my clients?

People come to me for a variety of reasons and also at different times in their lives, from the youngest adults to people in retirement. Each stage of life brings different challenges, but something is common to my clients. Very often they wish they were more authentic, less contracted and freer in their expression. I believe that by using bodywork techniques and gradually aligning our minds with our actions and our real needs, we can reach it: to become freer, more relaxed, someone who has life in their hands and is not being pulled by others or fate.

What does it mean to be in therapy?

Working with emotions

Emotions are an excellent guide if we can recognise them, trust them and not let them control or overwhelm us. In the therapeutic process we often stop, pause and observe what is happening on a physical level, what emotions are surfacing. In the fast pace of our lives, there is no time for such slowing down. We miss such important contact with ourselves, we cannot read the signals that the body is constantly giving us. This can lead, for example, to overexertion, or to a lot of inner anger – that is, when we let ourselves like what we don’t really like at all. In therapy, I help clients navigate emotions, notice them and build the capacity to experience them fully. Where there is space to experience sadness or anger, there is also space to experience and feel joy and love.

Working with intention

We notice our intentions. We articulate our intention at the beginning of each session and return to it throughout the session. Everyone can carry this skill into their daily lives. Gradually we see the power of our intention to guide us in our lives. And how, through awareness of our intentions, we can set the direction of our lives.

Coming back to ourselves

Sometimes in life we find ourselves in a situation from which we see no escape. It’s as if we are at a dead end. Such a place shows us that we are probably in some kind of blind spot from where we cannot see reality as it really is. Therapy then helps us to discover the situation from different angles and to touch the blind spot in ourselves. It may be an early memory, something we were afraid of as a child, something that still prevents us from seeing objectively even in adult life. In therapy, such blind spots are our treasure. When we discover them, understand them and accept them, they will return to us as an integral part of us, a part of ourselves that we have been missing. It makes us feel more whole, more ourselves.

My mission

My study abroad and work in an international environment gives me insight and understanding of people in the context of their cultures. Each culture imprints itself on our personalities, but at the deepest level we share similar wants, desires and needs. My mission is to help people allow themselves to touch these deep places within, to get to know them and to allow them to be fulfilled. I believe that such fulfillment brings a sense of contentment and deep inner peace.

I gained my experience with Core Energetics during my 4 years professional studies at Netherlands Institute of Core Energetics (NICE), where I graduated in 2020. Nowadays I work as an assistant at  Institute of Core Energetics Greece (ICEG) in Athens, which I visit every two months to take part in training modules.
